I'll Show You HELL, Angry Buhari Tells Looters

MUHAMMADU BUHARI
Angered as the HEIGHT of corruption, especially those involved in #DasukiGate, President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his resolved to mete out  severe punishment to those culpable.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said although those who shared funds meant for the purchase of arms for the nation’s military are currently regretting their actions, they would regret more.

The President, according to his media aide, Femi Adesina, while speaking with a delegation of the Northern Christian Leaders Eagles Eyes Forum at the Presidential Villa, Abuja said all those caught in his administration’s ongoing anti-corruption war would have themselves to blame.

The President thanked the Christian leaders for their support to the Federal Government’s anti-corruption campaign and other policies geared towards reviving the economy, promising to do more.

He said, “It is saddening that some of those who stole from our national resources put the money in their personal accounts.

“However, it is gratifying that those who stole money and shared funds meant for the purchase of arms for our military are regretting their actions and they will regret more.

“Those caught in corruption will have themselves to blame.”

Buhari promised that his administration would not hide anything from Nigerians in its commitment to restore the economic fortunes of the country and deliver prosperity to Nigerians.

He appealed to the religious leaders not to lose hope in the unity, stability and progress of the country.

The President said the Federal Government would continue to prioritise the safety of lives and property, in addition to equipping Nigerian farmers with the right tools, technology and techniques to boost agriculture.

“You must tell your followers the truth about the country. We have nothing to hide because we have no other country but Nigeria.

“Tell them to give us a chance to stabilise the country. Your concern for the security, unemployment, anti-corruption campaign and the frequent altercations between herdsmen and farmers are genuine concerns.

“I know the Ministry of Agriculture and the Governors Forum are doing a lot to resolve the lingering crisis between herdsmen and farmers, we must give them a chance,” the President said.

The leader of the delegation, Pastor Aminchi Habu, was reported to have called on Nigerians to support the President’s anti-corruption war and his vision to restore the lost glory of Nigeria.

“In your administration, I see a new Nigeria where the fear of bribery, corruption and extortion is the beginning of wisdom.

“I see a new Nigeria, where tribalism, religion and ethnicity will no longer be a barrier that separates us but a bond that unites us for a greater tomorrow,’’ he said.

Senate FORGERY: Saraki Fights Back, Buhari Retaliates In Hot 'Salvo'

Senate FORGERY: Saraki Fights Back, Buhari Retaliates In Hot 'Salvo'
Both the embattled President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Presidency yesterday engaged in what could best be described as a 'fight-back' and 'retaliation' over the current series of corruption and forgery travails faced by the former.

“What has become clear is that there is now a government within the government of President Buhari who has seized the apparatus of Executive powers to pursue their nefarious agenda,” he said in a statement he personally signed, shortly after the Federal Capital Territory High Court granted him bail.

He said if losing his personal freedom was the price he had to pay for not yielding to the nefarious agenda of a few individuals bent on undermining the nation’s democracy and destabilising the Federal Government to satisfy their selfish interests, “let the doors of jails be thrown open and I shall be a happy guest.”

But the presidency in a swift reaction dismissed the allegation as a product of a troubled sleep.

According to Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, to claim that Buhari was anybody’s stooge was not only ridiculous, but also preposterous.

“It is not in the character of our President,” the presidential spokesman said.

He added: “This claim by Senator Saraki would have been more worth the while, if it had been backed with more information. If he had proceeded to identify those who constitute the “government within the government,” it would have taken the issue beyond the realm of fiction and mere conjecture.  But as it stands, the allegation is not even worth the paper on which it was written, as anybody can wake from a troubled sleep, and say anything.

“The Attorney-General of the Federation is the Chief Law Officer of the state.  It is within his constitutional powers to determine who has infringed upon the law, and who has not.  Pretending to carry an imaginary cross is mere obfuscation, if, indeed, a criminal act has been committed.  But we leave the courts to judge.”

Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa and the acting Clerk, Mr. Benedict Efeturi are facing charges for allegedly forging the Senate Standing Rules used on June 9, 2015 to conduct the election that brought Saraki and Ekweremadu to office as principal officers.

But Saraki described the trial as diversionary and accused the government of President Buhari of witch-hunt.

Saraki said in the statement: “In our view, the charges filed by the Attorney General represent a violation of the principle of the Separation of Powers between the Executive branch and the Legislative branch as enshrined in our Constitution.  Furthermore, it is farcical to allege that a criminal act occurred during Senate procedural actions and the mere suggestion demonstrates a desperate overreach by the office of the Attorney General. These trumped up charges is only another phase in the relentless persecution of the leadership of the Senate.

“This misguided action by the Attorney General begs the question, how does this promote the public interest and benefit the nation?  At a time when the whole of government should be working together to meet Nigeria’s many challenges, we are once again distracted by the Executive branch’s inability to move beyond a leadership election among Senate peers. It was not an election of Senate peers and Executive Branch participants.

“Over the past year, the Senate has worked to foster good relations with the Executive branch.  It is in all of our collective interests to put aside divisions and get on with the nation’s business.  We risk alienating and losing the support of the very people who have entrusted their national leaders to seek new and creative ways to promote a secure and prosperous Nigeria.  As leaders and patriots, it is time to rise above partisanship and to move forward together.”

The embattled Senate President added: “This latest onslaught on the Legislature represents a clear and present danger to the democracy Nigerians fought hard to win and preserve.  The suit filed on behalf of the Federal Government suggests that perhaps some forces in the Federal Republic have not fully embraced the fact that the Senate’s rules and procedures govern how the legislative body adjudicates and resolves its own disputes.

“Let it be abundantly clear, both as a citizen and as a foremost legislator, I will continue to rise above all the persecution and distraction that have been visited on me. In the words of Martin Luther King Junior, ‘the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at a time of challenge and controversy.’

“I will remain true and committed to the responsibilities that my citizenship and my office impose on me. Without doubt, the highest of those responsibilities is the steadfast refusal to surrender to the subversion of our democracy and the desecration of the Senate. This is a cross I am prepared to carry.”

Besides the current forgery suit, Saraki is facing another trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over claims that he under-declared his assets as governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.

BUHARI Is Sick, To Be Flown Abroad Today - Presidency Admits Amidst Erlier Denial
Despite Earlier denial, the Presidency has finally admitted President Muhammadu Buhari is sick and will be flown to London to seek further medical attention.

In a statement according to Femi Adesina, Buhari's Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the President will on Monday begin a 10-day vacation to attend to “a persistent ear infection.”

News Punch, among other online media platforms, had two days ago reported that the president was sick and may be flown abroad to seek medical attentions, a report the presidency denied, only to admit now.

The presidential spokesman said although Buhari had been examined and treated by his personal physician and a specialist in Abuja, both doctors advised him to go for further evaluation in London as a precaution.

He said the President would therefore use the 10-day break to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in London.

The statement read, “President Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London from Monday June 6th, to rest.

“During the holiday, the President will see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist for a persistent ear infection.

“The President was examined by his personal physician and an E.N.T specialist in Abuja and was treated.

“Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution.”

There have been speculations over the President’s state of health since he shelved his scheduled two-day official visit to Lagos State at the last minute and directed Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to represent him.

The Presidency had attributed the development to what it called “scheduling difficulties.”

The issue resonated on Thursday when Buhari again shelved his trip to Rivers State during which he would have inaugurated the clean-up of Ogoniland and other oil-impacted communities.

He again sent Osinbajo to represent him at the event with the Presidency saying there was no big deal in the Vice-President representing Buhari at functions since “the  Presidency is one.”

Over the weekend, Buhari again put off his scheduled trip to Dakar, Senegal for the 49th Ordinary Session of the Economic Community of West African States, asking Osinbajo to once again represent him.

In all, the Presidency had claimed that the President was “fit as a fiddle” until Sunday when it finally admitted the ill-health.

This is the second time Buhari will be proceeding on vacation this year.

The President had earlier embarked on a  six-day vacation between February 5 and 10.

He remained in London throughout the first vacation.

He had earlier granted an interview where he said the doctors he had been consulting since the 1970s were based in London.

Buhari Signs No LOAN DEAL But Investment With China - Presidency

Buhari Signs No LOAN DEAL But Investment With China - Presidency

Contrary to initial media reports, the Presidency on Saturday said President Muhammadu Buhari did not sign any loan deal with the Peoples Republic of China during his just-concluded one-week working visit to the country.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, gave the clarification in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH.

Ahead of Buhari’s trip which started last Sunday, there were media reports that he would sign a $2bn loan deal with China during the visit as the Federal Government sought funds to finance the over N2tn budget deficit.

Reuters had reported that Adesina confirmed that loan agreement would be signed but he could not say how much until it was signed.

But the presidential spokesman told our correspondent on Saturday that there was no iota of truth in the report.

“There was no loan deal during the President’s visit to China. All that is coming are investments into Nigeria,” he stated.

At the conclusion of the visit on Friday, the Presidency had said the President’s trip yielded over $6bn additional investments for Nigeria.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

Shehu said the President believed that the agreements concluded with the Chinese during the visit would have a huge and positive impact on key sectors of the Nigerian economy, including power, solid minerals, agriculture, housing and rail transportation.

He said, “In the power sector, North South Power Company Limited and Sinohydro Corporation Limited signed an agreement valued at $478,657,941.28 for the construction of 300 Mega Watts solar power in Shiriro, Niger State.

“In the solid minerals sector, Granite and Marble Nigeria Limited and Shanghai Shibang signed an agreement valued at $55m for the construction and equipping of granite mining plant in Nigeria.

“A total of $1bn is to be invested in the development of a greenfield expressway for Abuja-Ibadan-Lagos under an agreement reached by the Infrastructure Bank and Sinohydro Corporation Limited.

“For the housing sector, both companies also sealed a $250m deal to develop an ultra modern 27-storeyed high rise complex and a $2.5bn agreement for the development of the Lagos Metro Rail Transit Red Line project.”

According to the presidential spokesman, other agreements announced and signed during the visit included $1bn for the establishment of a hi-tech industrial park in Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Igbesa, Ogun State.

He added that the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone and CNG (Nigeria) Investment Limited also signed an agreement valued at $200m for the construction of two 500MT/day float gas facilities.

“An agreement valued at $363m for the establishment of a comprehensive farm and downstream industrial park in Kogi State was also announced at the Nigeria-China business forum.

“Other agreements undergoing negotiations include a $500m project for the provision of television broadcast equipment and a $25m facility for production of pre-paid smart meters between Mojec International Limited and Microstar Company Limited.

“About 100 Nigerian businesses and 300 Chinese firms participated in the Nigeria-China business forum, which took place a day after President Buhari began his visit to China,” Shehu added.

He said; "The Hon minister for petroleum appears to me to be strictly a professional CEO. I believe, from my little research of what he has silently done to restructure and refocus the company, that definitely he knows what he is doing. But he is completely in the dark when it comes to politics or information management."

On kachikwu and Adesina

I am not APC and NEVER will be.

I am not looking for employment and certainly not in an APC government. I Dont believe in APC, its leadership or policies.
But at my age, with the over 35yrs experience I have gathered in Nigerian politics and haven served in the Presidency twice, I believe I should at all times, try and share whatever little knowledge I may have towards helping to build a better Nation no matter who is at the helm of the affairs.

Nigeria ,Nigerians and Stake holders cannot afford to standby allow errors to be made only to turn round later and use it for political gains.
Now back to the subject matter.

The Hon minister for petroleum appears to me to be strictly a professional CEO. I believe, from my little research of what he has silently done to restructure and refocus the company, that definitely he knows what he is doing. But he is completely in the dark when it comes to politics or information management. And this of necessity must be so. I will personally advice the minister to employ a good public relations man and a good communicator who manages the company's interface with the public and media. Let the minister do his job of policy formulation and executive management of the NNPC in which he appears supremely competent.

As for Mr femi Adeshina, he definitely made an unpardonable slip. But should we hang him for i? NO.!!

Being a spokeman for a government is not one of the best jobs you want to do especially in difficult times like this.

Many times you are overburdened by your passion and commitment for your principal and as a human being you simply flip when you find yourself in a tight spot. In my career I have flipped and slipped severally, that is why I understand where femi Is coming from.

When you work very closely with the number 1 citizen in the country and you are privy to his thoughts, actions, and challenges, it takes divine wisdom, maturity and forbearance to hold your own if you feel the public is not appreciative of all the efforts the government is making. The mistake we all make under these circumstances is that, members of the public are not privy to what is being done behind the scene and neither are they interested. All the people want to see is results not efforts.

I believe femi knows where he went wrong. I have known and interacted with him for several years. He is not haughty and would never have contrived to insult the sensibilities of the Nigerian public. It is a goal down but the game has just started

Former media aide to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Doyin Okupe has described the Minister of State of Petroleum and the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu as a professional, but who is not vast in politics and information management.
