Your Excellency, I am pleased for the significant roles you and other members of the House of Representatives played in moving Nigeria forward. The most recent of such roles is the constitution review which most of the proposed amendments are citizen-impact driven. I and other Nigerians will be glad to see that such come to reality so that Nigeria can be repositioned.
Shortly after the 2015 general elections were over and All Progressives Congress (APC) won the presidential election and majority of the seats in both the lower and upper chambers at the National Assembly, you were not the preferred candidate by the National Leader of APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It was Hon. Olufemi Gbajabiamila who was Tinubu’s preferred man for the mantle of the lower chamber leadership. But you emerged against all odds to become the speaker of the House of Representatives against the wish and preferred candidate of Tinubu.
So many Nigerians were happy that you emerged because it appeared like Tinubu wanted to place people in advantageous positions so that he could manipulate them and have enormous influence in the National Assembly and other aspects of Nigeria’s existence.
I was personally happy for your emergence and congratulated you on social media and prayed that you reposition the House of Representatives and make the desired impact on Nigeria. So far, your efforts in doing so are highly commended and I pray that your rectitude should guide you to walk the path of progress and not retrogression.
I have so desired that you will be an embodiment of leadership success so that others can use you as a reference point when talking about leadership related issues. And that you should be a reminiscent of good leadership at all times and through that you can reignite your leadership prowess to unearth the ripple of excitement that is hardly felt in Nigeria as a result of continual poor leadership at both the National Assembly and the Federal Government.
My basic reasons for writing this open letter are to appreciate the good work you have done so far and also appeal to you as a matter of urgency to immediately Swear-in Hon (Mrs.) Dorothy Mato once you and other members resume from recess.
Since the Supreme Court sacked Hon. Herman Hembe and ordered that INEC should issue Mrs Mato the certificate of return, Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State is left with no active representative since she has not been sworn-in.
The Chairman , House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Abdulrazak Namdas, while speaking to newsmen in Abuja before the recess said that the House of Representatives would swear in Dorothy Mato as the lawmaker representing Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue upon resumption from its six weeks recess.
Namdas said, “By the time the House resumes from the recess, we would have completed all the processes for her to be sworn-in as Hembe’s replacement.
“Our tenure hasn’t elapsed. We are going on a break and when she is through, we can still swear her in.
“The recess is a constitutional matter and when we return, we will continue our legislative business,” he added.
From what Namdas said I want to believe that you and the House will keep to your words and get her sworn- in without delay as soon as work resumes at the chamber.
The people of Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency are all looking up to you to be the kind of Speaker that will at all times place the interest of the governed above personal and political interests. And by doing so, you will bring them exhilarating experience beyond measure.
It is my fervent desire that you will increase the momentum of your leadership so that your leadership trajectory with leave indelible marks on Nigeria and you will forever be remembered as one of those who contributed significantly in repositioning Nigeria.
God Bless You!
God Bless the members of the House of Representatives!
God Bless the National Assembly!!
God Bless Nigeria!!!
