Senator Mohammed Hassan has defeated two Other Candidates Including A Former Minister,Adamu Maina Waziri, Haruna Bawa Waziri in a keenly contested Yobe South senatorial district of the Peoples Democratic Party primaries election in Potiskum, behind keystone Bank today.
According to the chairman of the five man electoral panel headed by Alhaji Mohammed Shakur Yunusa, said delegates and statutory delegates voted in the primaries that secured victory for the highest scorer Alhaji Mohammed Hassan of PDP
The yobe South senatorial district include Fune,Nangeri,Fika and Potiskum local government
Senator Mohammed Hassan,PDP was a popular candidate that defeated the incumbent senator of the APC candidate in 2015, in spite of the Buhari tsunami that sweeped the entire northern parts and the country at large
Dambu as he is popularly nicknamed, had been a thorn in the flesh of contestants within the party and the ruling party,the APC in the state
In the three senatorial districts,Yobe South had been the strong base of PDP and only area producing a senator for PDP owing to the popular nature of the candidate,Senator Mohammed Hassan
Glaringly,Senator Hassan in the early hours of the day was popular as a result of his interest for the downtrodden,the less privileged and the entire masses within the communities
Aside politics,the senators residence was thronged by party supporters,well wishers,and other stakeholders that besieged his house to show support ,attract favour among other demands
The electoral panel chairman commended the delegates,security agencies and party supporters for making the exercise hitch free, while congratulating the winners and losers for demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship during and after the primaries
In his acceptance speech,Senator Hassan Mohammed thanked the people of yobe South for the confidence reposed on him promising not to let them down at the 9th Senate when voted to nack to the red chamber
