"We re' Neglected", Delta Ex-agitators, Leaders Tell Okowa

By Ode Williams

The Ex-agitators and Non- Ex-agitators leaders in Niger Delta region in Bomadi Burutu and patani Local Government Areas of Delta State groups who worked assidousily for the Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr Okowa Ifeanyi for his successful 2019 Gubernatorial election has cried out over the spirit of used and dumped in Bomadi and Patani Local Governmnt of the Delta State Government

In a statement issued by the National spokesman of the Ex-agitators,General Trust Andamo during their peace protests at Asaba state capital of Delta State recently, over what they describe as callous abandonment by their politican leader who was the then Director General of Okowa Campaign organization (Hon. Funkekeme Solomon) and neglected them without no position and no appointment from him rather, he uses them as ghost appointment to enrich himself and others.

According, the spokesman General Andamo who addresses the journalist said, ” Director General to Governors Okowa approached them the Ex-agitators Leaders and persuaded us to work for the for Governors Okowa to win his second tenure election of his principal and as such we worked and delivered him, but as we spoke with you nothing to show rather than to abandon us on the course of us who work for the success of the 2019 Gubernatorial election”.

He said, “Hon. Funkekeme Solomon scheduled a meeting between them and His Excellency Governor Okowa to discuss the modalities of the operation and His Excellency Governor Okowa instructed him that after the election we should come with the Director General now S.S.A political to see him ( Excellency Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa) for appropriate compensation and empowerment which includes; appointment into government Parastatals, agencies and/or boards and others”.

He lamented, after the victory of His Excellency Governor Okowa, as all efforts made to meet with the Governor through Hon. Funkekeme Solomon proved abortive.

According to him, they also thank God Almighty for giving them the understanding on their civic responsibilities, even as they want to utilize this platform to embark on a peaceful protest rather than resorting to self- help inorder to draw the attention of His Excellency Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and that of Hon. Funkekeme Solomon for he had short changed them.

He also expressed that, it is been over a year since His Excellency Governor Okowa has been sworn in as Executive Governor of Delta State and all efforts made to meet with Governor Okowa through Hon. Funkekeme Solomon proved abortive while the benefit of their workers and wages were no where to be found, very frustrating.

The group however pleaded to the Governor to be compensated on their work for Hon. Funkekeme Solomon who has been using them  to work for Governor Okowa as instructed without been rewarded instead was neglected after the election and abandoned, refusing to picking calls, nor replying their text messages anymore.

The group alleges that, some politican in Bomadi and Patani were using their names to receive appointments slots from the Governor of Delta State and gave to those he preferred and neglect the people that worked assiduously for the victory during the election.

He added, “We know and they believe that Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is a man of his words and he is not aware of this wicked act that is being exhibited by Hon. Funkekeme Solomon that was why we demanded to see the Governor even before we work for his victory in 2019 Gubernatorial election.

It was very unfortunately, we had an audience with Governor Okowa who promised to reward us after the election in honesty and transparency of his cardinal principles of his Government but Hon. Funkekeme has disappointed us by not fulfilling his part of the bargain.

To this effect, we feel very frustrated and fear that the assurance Governor Okowa gave us before the election to go and work for him, that we will be duly compensated, has been jeopardized today by Hon. Funkekeme Solomon.

The group therefore urges, Governor Okowa to use his good office to investigate and address all the issues as raised and to maintain peace, have that which is due to the group are according to the Governor Okowa be given to us for peace to reigns and our intention is for peace and not violence.

But if audience is not granted and our demands not met,  we will have no choice than to repeat this protests on the 10 day of November 2020, if and we shall still proceed to the entrance of the government house on the afore stated date and dwell there until the issues raised above are holistically addressed, he stated.
