The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia Tuesday, March 26, 2024 paid unscheduled visit to the Benue State Hospitals Management Board, Makurdi.
The Governor expressed displeasure at the dilapidated nature of the building which is housing over 200 staff of the board and promised that his administration would reconstruct and furnish it with state-of-the-art facilities to meet modern standard.
He advised the head of the board to consider moving some staff to hospital facilities in the local government areas to decongest the centre and enhance capacity in the local areas.
The Executive Secretary, Benue State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Onoja Matthew, while taking the Governor round the facility, outlined many challenges including lack of furniture and deplorable condition of the building and appealed to the Governor for a quick intervention.
The Governor was accompanied by the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Yanmar Ortese, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Paul Biam, and Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge, amongst others.
