Agojeju Odo Massacre; House Deputy Leader, Halims Calls For Citing Of Military Base In Omala

The Deputy House Leader, House of Representatives, Rt Honorable Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims has requested for citing of a military presence in Omala local government area of Kogi state in view of frequent attacks from herders on residents of the area.

Halims while moving a motion of urgent national importance on the floor of the house on Thursday also called for the immediate reinforcement of police and the military through the inspector general of police and the Chief of defence staff.

The federal lawmaker who expressed worry on the safety of lives and properties of the people of the area said the devastated residents of Agojeju Odo village deserved urgent attention from the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA and other relevant agencies for immediate attention.

He said the community who were purely agrarian have been displaced after the killings of over 40 people by the bandits, and are scattered all round the local government headquarters at Abejukolo, while others are taken refuge in the neighborhood local government of Ankpa, Dekina and Nassarrawa state.

He expressed regrets on the continuous attacks on communities in Omala , stating that the recent one at Bagana left a sour experience on the psyche of the people.

The Deputy House Leader called for proactiveness on the part of security agencies and local vigilantees, so as to nip in the bud in future such unfortunate occurrences.
