In 2023, former member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency in Benue State, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Dorathy Mato formed "Alia Mothers" in some local governments in Benue State. An association to get the campaign for the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia when he became the gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the grassroots.
Yesterday, Mato met with Alia Mother (AM), Katsina-Ala branch, Benue State and reaffirmed her support for the association. She appreciated them for the pivotal roles they played by making various sacrifices using their own resources and time to support and campaign for Alia not only in Katsina-Ala but Sankera by extension.
" I remain very grateful to all of you for the sacrifices you made during the campaign for Alia which he was finally elected as the Executive Governor of Benue State. I want to encourage you to remain steadfast in your faith in his administration that your sacrifices will not go in vain.
"He has embarked on various projects in Benue State for its transformation which in the short and long run will not only benefit the people of Benue State but visitors to the state as well", she said.
Torkwase of Alia Mothers, Mrs. Mercy Yar commended Mato for her dedication to the Alia project which led to the creation of the association. She said they felt neglected after Alia won his election but with the assurance given them by Mato, their faith in the Alia project has been reignited.
The secretary of the association Mrs. Comfort Uchi was extremely delighted for Mato's presence and promised her that their support for Alia will remain unswerving and will be available to push the campaign further in his reelection campaign in 2027.
Mato appreciated them and said by the time everything will be fixed appropriately, the association will be taken to greater heights to enhance democratic and community development.
