The best way to get things done is to set an easy template that others can easily follow and get the same done. It is usually simple to do when there is a model on the ground to follow in getting it done. Quality leaders are the ones who can show the followers the example and effortlessly guide them to produce the same result.
Our society is torn out because we have leaders who do not have, have not created, or live an exemplary model that followers and people can follow. Example is not the main thing in influencing others, it is the only thing says Albert Schweitzer.
We are in a world of influence. In that regard, nobody lives or exists on his or her own. Whether consciously or unconsciously. A lot of things/people are influencing you, and you are also influencing a lot of things/people. However, leadership as a system is a robust means to build a system of good influence. But it's a pity that this has been abused today. We now have leaders who are in leadership for their selfish purpose and who don’t think of living good example people can emulate. There are many ways effective leadership can be prosecuted, but I think the chief means is leadership by example.
Leadership by example is a leadership model in which a leader sets an example for his followers, team, or organization to follow. It simply entails leading by manifesting the traits, values system, and work ethics that you expect from your followers or your team. There is a wise saying that says people will not do what you say. People will do what you do. Then leadership, by example, by postulation, states that if you want to see it in your followers, then do it first.
In the realm of leadership, the adage "actions speak louder than words" holds profound significance. Leadership by example, is not merely a strategy; it is a mindset that fosters trust, motivates teams, and drives organizational success. Authentic leaders recognize that their conduct sets the tone for their teams and shapes the culture of their organizations. By embodying the values, they wish to instill, leaders can inspire others to follow suit, creating a collective effort toward shared goals.
At its core, leadership as an example, is about demonstrating the behaviors, attitudes, and work ethic that one wishes to see in others. This approach involves consistent alignment between a leader's words and actions, reinforcing their integrity and authenticity. Leaders who practice what they preach gain respect and admiration from their teams, which fosters a sense of loyalty and commitment.
Reverend Fr(Dr) Hyacinth Iormem Alia Administration as a Model of Exemplary Leadership.
The example of a leader in this category is His Excellency Reverend Fr (Dr) Hyacinth Iormem Alia who, after just one year and six months in office, has given impetus to the execution of numerous projects in developing a new Benue state. From a report from Daily Asset Nigeria, it was said he has been using the instrumentality of government to refocus on the critical sectors of the economy that affect the lives of the people.
In fact, This Daylive.com quoted the current Benue state Governor's leadership as an excellent and exemplary one. According to a blog post released by This Day 2 months ago titled ‘’Inspiring a Generation in Benue’’, this exemplary leader has begun to offset the backlog of arrears of salaries, pensions, and other emoluments of civil servants, a revival of physical infrastructure which includes road, buildings, and others.
Maximum attention to the agricultural sector by distribution of farming incentives to farmers. Agric loans and grants are made available for farmers. Procurement of machines to aid agricultural productivity. The revival of Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC), many jobs created through this platform, and diversification into many business ventures were also achieved in just a little time, this exemplary leader assumed office. The BIPC is building a world-class refinery in Makurdi with the prospect of employment and business opportunities for the residents of the state.
The health sector, education, and security have not been left out in this shift. This exemplary model has found expression in the sub-leadership of this government. The same has been seen in the overall transformation of the nearly buried Benue State University Teaching Hospital, where the governor has used his exemplary leadership to put his own trained leader (Dr. Terugwa Hwande) to manage and has experienced a major shift which has seen the following in just a few months of Reverend Fr(Dr) Hyacinth Iormem Alia trained leader in office:

They are people of capacity who focus on seeing changes and transformation in their followers and people more than anything and the modus they use in achieving this is becoming or leading the examples, changes, and transformation they want to see in their followers and people.
