Hon. Engr. Japheth Terlumum Igbogo hosts his first football Unity Cup competition for the good people of his council ward, Mbawar in Konshisha Local Government Council of Benue State.
On Saturday, 12th April, 2025, he was at one of the matches where he watched how promising Mbawar and Konshisha sons in sports showcased their talents.
He said, "sports development is crucial for fostering individual growth and societal advancement of Mbawar and Konshisha by extension. It will promote physical and mental well-being, develop essential life skills, and can even be a tool for social change and economic development in Mbawar and Konshisha.
"Sports encourage physical activity, leading to improved cardiovascular health, reduced risk of obesity and chronic diseases, and increased strength and endurance.
"Participating in sports can reduce stress, improve mental clarity, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of belonging and accomplishment.
"Sports will teach valuable life skills like teamwork, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and goal-setting, which are transferable to various aspects of life.
"Sports will cultivate discipline, resilience, sportsmanship, and a strong work ethic, contributing to the development of well-rounded individuals in Mbawar and Konshisha
"Sports can bring the good people of Mbawar and Konshisha together from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and shared identity.
"Sports tourism, professional sports leagues, and related industries can generate revenue and create jobs.
"Sports can be used to address social issues, promote health awareness, and inspire positive change.
"Sports can be a powerful tool for engaging Mbawar and Konshisha students, improving their academic performance, and fostering a love for learning.
"Sports can contribute to a nation's image on the global stage, promoting unity and pride."
The Chairman of Konshisha Local Government, Hon. Moses Terfa Chikyaa commended Igbogo for such wonderful initiative that has brought different youths and people together. He appealed to him to sustain it so that the impact will be made across Konshisha.
Zaki Terhemen Pever of Tyogbenda Iorpuu, Mbawar Konshisha eulogized Igbogo as a visionary son of Konshisha who is determined to reposition Konshisha for greatness.
