Mato's Philosophy Of Politics: A Paragon For Other Politicians

By Terfa Naswem

Rt. Hon Mrs Dorathy Mato, the former member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency in Benue State has been guided in all her political activities by her impact-making philosophy of politics.

In all her political activities and campaigns, Hon Mato has upheld her philosophy of politics by promoting non-violent politics. She always discourages thuggery and admonishes her supporters never to indulge in violence because it will destroy them and their future.

Hon Mato democratized her philosophy by always engaging youths and others in discussions to know their problems and proffer solutions to them and those of their communities and appeals to them to make their communities safer by curbing unruly passion and behaviour and should reject politics of violence.

Hon Mato said development can only happen when there is peace and people should be capable of abnegation and unselfishness for the desired impact to be made.

Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals. A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better.

Hon Mato is a woman who has political acumen. She does not believe in do-or-die politics because it leads to thuggery and other violence in politics and if politicians would emulate her philosophy of politics and make her their paragon, politics will truly be non-violent and will pave way for many good things to come.
