College Celebrates 42nd NCE And 13TH Degree Matriculation, Unveils Dual Mandate System — A New Era Of NCE And Full Degree Awarding Status

Federal College of Education, Obudu, Cross River State witnessed a historic occasion on Friday, April 25, 2025, as it held its 42nd NCE and 13th Degree joint matriculation ceremony at the prestigious Senator Greg Ngaji Lecture Theatre. The event marked a significant milestone in the College’s academic calendar, with a total of 875 students officially admitted into its academic community. Of this number, 565 students were admitted into the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme, while 310 students were enrolled into the Degree programme in affiliation with the University of Calabar.

In his address, the Provost of the College, Dr. Richard Ugbaha Utubaku, warmly welcomed parents, guardians, and well-wishers to the auspicious event. He gave a brief yet inspiring account of the history of the College, emphasizing its role in shaping the futures of young men and women who are making meaningful contributions in various sectors both within and beyond Nigeria's borders. Dr. Utubaku reiterated the College’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards, striving continually to lead students on a path of discovery, growth, and personal transformation.

A notable highlight of his speech was the announcement of a groundbreaking development: starting from September 2025, the College will officially transition into a full-fledged degree-awarding institution. This development marks the beginning of a new era under the Dual Mandate System, wherein the College will operate both NCE and Degree programmes concurrently. Dr. Utubaku described the transition as a historic advancement and a testament to the College’s steady growth and academic excellence.

As an alumnus of the College himself, having earned his NCE from the institution, Dr. Utubaku passionately advised the new students to take full advantage of the recently introduced.
