As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day, we celebrate two leaders whose track record of service speaks for itself: His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Governor of Benue State, and Hon. Shimawua Emmanuel, Member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Kyan Constituency.
Tested and Trusted Leadership in Action
Under Governor Alia’s administration, Benue State has seen renewed focus on security, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, and rural infrastructure. A landmark achievement is the establishment of the *University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh in Kyan Constituency—a transformative project that will expand access to higher education and create opportunities for thousands of Benue youths.
The Governor’s administration has also demonstrated commitment to good governance through the creation of six new State House of Assembly constituencies, a move that brings government closer to the people and strengthens democratic representation.
In the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Shimawua Emmanuel has provided solid legislative support to make these gains possible. His sponsorship and advocacy for bills and motions that benefit Kyan Constituency reflect a lawmaker who understands his mandate. Beyond the hallowed chambers, Hon. Shimawua has delivered direct impact through the drilling of motorized boreholes across Council Wards of his Constituency to improve access to clean water, and through empowerment programs for women and youths, scholarship to students , given of 52 pensionable jobs to youths that are building self-reliance and economic opportunities in Kyan.
Why 2027 Should Build on This Foundation.
Democracy grows when leaders match promises with action. The commitment to education, infrastructure, and people-centered governance shown by Governor Alia and Hon. Shimawua gives the people of Benue State and Kyan Constituency every reason to consolidate progress.
To the good people of Kyan Constituency and Benue State: tested leaders deserve a continued mandate. As we look toward 2027, sustaining this trajectory of service, unity, and development is key to securing a brighter future.
Happy Democracy Day to you both. May your leadership continue to bring peace, prosperity, and meaningful development to the people. We wish you wisdom, strength, and continued success—and look forward to your continued service beyond 2027.
