... He is following the footsteps of Nelson Rockefeller
The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has the concomitant of people-oriented leadership which his probity and prudence have taken him to the realm of unprecedented development for Benue State.
He upholds the development philosophy of one of the best governors in the United States, Nelson Rockefeller who served as the 49th Governor of New York for nearly 15 years, from January 1, 1959, to December 18, 1973. A Republican, he was elected to four terms and resigned just before the end of his final term to focus on national policy commission work before becoming Vice President. His development philosophy focused on economic growth, job creation, and policy innovation to address local needs of New Yorkers. Gov. Alia is doing the same to address the local needs of the people of Benue State through his infrastructure development and rural community development initiatives. Just like Nelson, Alia has typically prioritized public-private partnerships, infrastructure investment, and education to enhance state competitiveness, while navigating federal-state relations and political accountability.
The deplorable state of Benue was the major reason Gov. Alia contested the gubernatorial election in 2023 to bring his transformative reforms in repositioning Benue State for the common good.
The cupidity of past governors of Benue orchestrated the unacceptable level of underdevelopment in the state. With Gov. Alia on board, his dogmatism, reverence, dislike for abysmal and amorphous leadership and tenacity are transforming Benue in infrastructure development and other aspects.
His people-oriented governance has instilled hope in the people of Benue and dispelled ambivalent feelings about the redemption of the state by eliciting unending happiness from their heart, going to bed every night with joy that the Messiah of Benue State has finally come after many years of waiting.
Gov. Alia's transformative impact has rekindled the hope of the people of Benue State who believe that Benue, sooner than later, will become one of the most developed states in Nigeria by the time Alia completes his second term in 2031.
