Democracy Day Message From Hon. Felix Terese Ngutswen [FTN] To kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency

Democracy Day Message From Hon. Felix Terese Ngutswen [FTN] To kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency

As we celebrate Democracy Day, Hon. Felix Terese Ngutswen extends warm wishes for a blissful celebration to all sons and daughters of Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency.

Hon. Ngutswen noted that the true definition of democracy is what Abraham Lincoln described: _“government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”_

He pointed out that democracy thrives only when citizens demand accountability from their leaders and take interest in how resources meant for community development are spent.

He emphasized that leadership is about the people. True patriotism is demonstrated when we prioritize the welfare of our people above personal interests. From ashes of pain, we must rise together to build Kwande/Ushongo into the constituency we all deserve.

Happy Democracy Day To Tested And Trusted Leaders: Governor Hyacinth Alia And Hon. Shimawua Emmanuel

Happy Democracy Day To Tested And Trusted Leaders: Governor Hyacinth Alia And Hon. Shimawua Emmanuel

As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day, we celebrate two leaders whose track record of service speaks for itself: His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Governor of Benue State, and Hon. Shimawua Emmanuel, Member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Kyan Constituency.

Tested and Trusted Leadership in Action

Under Governor Alia’s administration, Benue State has seen renewed focus on security, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, and rural infrastructure. A landmark achievement is the establishment of the *University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh  in Kyan Constituency—a transformative project that will expand access to higher education and create opportunities for thousands of Benue youths.

The Governor’s administration has also demonstrated commitment to good governance through the creation of six new State House of Assembly constituencies, a move that brings government closer to the people and strengthens democratic representation.

In the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Shimawua Emmanuel has provided solid legislative support to make these gains possible. His sponsorship and advocacy for bills and motions that benefit Kyan Constituency reflect a lawmaker who understands his mandate. Beyond the hallowed chambers, Hon. Shimawua has delivered direct impact through the drilling of motorized boreholes across Council Wards of his Constituency to improve access to clean water, and through empowerment programs for women and youths, scholarship to students , given of 52 pensionable jobs to youths  that are building self-reliance and economic opportunities in Kyan.

Why 2027 Should Build on This Foundation.

Democracy grows when leaders match promises with action. The commitment to education, infrastructure, and people-centered governance shown by Governor Alia and Hon. Shimawua gives the people of Benue State and Kyan Constituency every reason to consolidate progress.

To the good people of Kyan Constituency and Benue State: tested leaders deserve a continued mandate. As we look toward 2027, sustaining this trajectory of service, unity, and development is key to securing a brighter future.

Happy Democracy Day to you both. May your leadership continue to bring peace, prosperity, and meaningful development to the people. We wish you wisdom, strength, and continued success—and look forward to your continued service beyond 2027.

Niger Delta Group Slams Tantita Pipeline Contract as Failure, Urges President to Reject Desperate Lies Justifying Failed Deal

Niger Delta Group Slams Tantita Pipeline Contract as Failure, Urges President to Reject Desperate Lies Justifying Failed Deal

By Peter Dansu

Bola Tinubu

A prominent regional watchdog has dismissed recent claims of improved security in the Niger Delta under Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), describing the touted successes as “grossly exaggerated and misleading” propaganda designed to justify a failing contract.

The Niger Delta Monitoring Group (NDMG) on Wednesday released findings from its independent audit and extensive fact-finding tour, directly contradicting a widely circulated investigation that hailed Tantita’s pipeline surveillance role for bringing stability to the region amid national security challenges.

In a statement signed by Comrade Thompson Tom, the group dismissed the report that Niger Delta has found stability through Tantita and its associated assertion of a 20.9 per cent drop in South-South insecurity incidents linked to the contract.

“Our comprehensive assessment, involving site visits to pipeline corridors, community engagements, security reports, and environmental data, reveals persistent failure, elite capture, and superficial operations that have not delivered genuine security or development for the people of the Niger Delta,” the NDMG stated.

The group highlighted several critical shortcomings that, according to its audit, undermine Tantita’s performance.

"Despite massive public funding, sophisticated illegal bunkering and tapping activities continue in multiple corridors. The NDMG said claimed reductions in incidents appear selective or statistically manipulated, ignoring under-reported cases in remote areas," the statement said.

"The highly centralised model has concentrated benefits among a few, breeding resentment and exclusion. Many communities reportedly feel alienated rather than protected, leading to parallel criminal activities.

"Oil spills, pollution, and inadequate remediation persist, with Tantita accused of failing to prioritise holistic environmental security, further devastating local livelihoods.

"Ground realities show intelligence gaps, response delays, and allegations of selective enforcement. A single centralised entity, the group argued, cannot effectively manage the vast and complex terrain of the Niger Delta.

" Limited independent oversight of expenditures and performance metrics raises serious questions about value for money and potential conflicts of interest."

The NDMG described the current arrangement as inefficient and unsustainable, rooted in the region’s long-standing “resource curse” dynamics.

“We urge Mr. President to be wary of desperate lies being peddled by vested interests to justify this failed contract,” Tom said.

“The Nigerian people, particularly in the Niger Delta, cannot be deceived by manipulated statistics and glossy headlines while oil theft, environmental degradation, and community exclusion continue unabated.”

The group strongly recommended the immediate decentralisation of the pipeline surveillance contract.

“This should involve sub-contracts or parallel frameworks awarded to credible community-based entities, state-level operators, and other competent private players,” the statement added.

According to the NDMG, decentralisation would introduce healthy competition, enhance local intelligence gathering, boost employment opportunities, and create necessary checks and balances for better overall performance.

“True stability in the Niger Delta requires inclusive, decentralised approaches that empower local stakeholders and ensure equitable benefit-sharing,” the statement added.

“The Niger Delta people deserve more than propaganda and centralised control — they deserve real security, development, and justice.”

It’s Time To End Insecurity

It’s Time To End Insecurity

Brothers and sisters of Kwande/Ushongo,

For too long, our people have lived in fear. Farms abandoned. Children afraid to go to school. Families displaced from their ancestral lands.

This cannot continue.

I am contesting because security is not a campaign promise — it is a survival issue.

My commitment is clear:
1. Strengthen our borders – Work with security agencies, local vigilantes, and community leaders to secure every entry point from Manor to Jato-Aka. Our land must be defended.

2. Intelligence + Early Warning – Support community-based security networks with logistics and real-time intel so attacks are stopped before they happen.

3. Rehabilitate & Resettle – Provide shelter and support for IDPs. No Kwande/Ushongo son or daughter should be a refugee in their own land.

4. Federal Collaboration – Use my office at the National Assembly to push for more boots on ground, better equipment, and justice for victims.

Our forefathers conquered invaders. By God’s grace and with unity, we will conquer this too.

Security first. Development follows. Kwande/Ushongo shall rise again.

Why I Am Contesting For House Of Representatives – Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency

Why I Am Contesting For House Of Representatives – Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency

My name is Felix Terese Ngutswen. I am a son of the soil, from Mata State Constituency, Ushongo LGA.

For decades, our people have sent representatives to the National Assembly. Some served well, some did beyond expectation. I honor their efforts.

But today, Kwande/Ushongo needs more than politics as usual. We need true leadership rooted in trust, accountability, and results.

Our greatest challenge has been division. Partisan politics has torn us apart and stalled development in our communities. I am contesting to unite our people — APC, PDP, SDP, or no party at all. When it comes to Kwande/Ushongo, we are one family with one future.

I am not just seeking election. I am seeking an opportunity to build our people.

My campaign is anchored on 3 pillars:
1. *Human Capacity Building* – Quality education, skills training, and youth empowerment so our children can compete anywhere in Nigeria.
2. *Security* – I will work with security agencies and stakeholders to strengthen our borders and end the constant attacks by invaders. The safety of our land and people is non-negotiable. This I must do.
3. *Social Welfare* – Healthcare, rural roads, clean water, and support for farmers, women, and the vulnerable. Development must reach Manor to Jato-Aka.

I call on you all, my brothers, sisters, and respected elders, to once again demonstrate the unity and courage Kwande/Ushongo is known for.

Together, let us build a constituency where no one is left behind.

Kwande/Ushongo shall rise again. FTN – The Hope of Our People .

AGBESE CLARIFIES SIGNATURE CONTROVERSY, SAYS CCTV FOOTAGE MISREPRESENTED

AGBESE CLARIFIES SIGNATURE CONTROVERSY, SAYS CCTV FOOTAGE MISREPRESENTED

By Peter Dansu

Phillip Agbese

Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Bishop Philip Agbese, has provided further clarification regarding the controversy surrounding a document allegedly linked to the purported move to elevate Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere to a minority leadership position in the House.

The clarification comes after CCTV footage surfaced online showing Hon. Agbese signing a document, which some individuals have claimed was evidence that he supported the alleged leadership arrangement.

However, Hon. Agbese maintained that while the individual seen in the footage is indeed him, the document he signed had nothing to do with the elevation of any lawmaker to a leadership position in the House.

According to him, the document in question was related to the welfare of members and the agitation for the implementation and delivery of constituency projects, stressing that it was entirely different from the narrative currently being circulated online and in some sections of the media.

Agbese challenged those promoting the allegation to provide evidence showing that the document he signed was specifically intended to support Hon. Ugochinyere's emergence as Minority Leader.

"Let anyone provide video evidence that the document was meant to elevate Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere," he reportedly stated, insisting that the purpose of the document has been deliberately misrepresented.

The lawmaker had earlier raised concerns on the floor of the House over a document purportedly bearing his signature and allegedly linked to the minority leadership issue. He firmly denied the allegation and distanced himself from the interpretation being given to the document.

Proceedings in the House reportedly became tense when Hon. Ugochinyere attempted to convince lawmakers that Hon. Agbese had indeed signed the document in support of his leadership aspiration. In response, Agbese vehemently rejected the claim, insisting that the document and its purpose were entirely different from what was being alleged.

Witnesses said the atmosphere became rowdy as both sides sought to defend their positions before the Speaker intervened and directed that the matter be addressed through appropriate internal channels.

Meanwhile, videos circulating on social media have continued to generate public debate. Supporters of Hon. Agbese argue that the footage has been taken out of context and wrongly presented to create the impression that he endorsed a leadership arrangement that he insists he never supported.

They maintain that the CCTV footage merely captured a separate exercise relating to members' welfare and constituency development concerns, and not any move to alter the minority leadership structure of the House.

Observers believe the latest explanation from Hon. Agbese may help clarify the circumstances surrounding the footage and address what his supporters describe as a misleading narrative that has gained traction online.

Court Quashes Criminal Charges Against H-Medix Pharmacy Ltd, Confirms Area Councils as Legally Empowered to Handle Matters of Sanitation and Health Inspection

Court Quashes Criminal Charges Against H-Medix Pharmacy Ltd, Confirms Area Councils as Legally Empowered to Handle Matters of Sanitation and Health Inspection

In a landmark ruling that brings much-needed relief to businesses across the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT High Court has quashed criminal charges brought against H-Medix Pharmacy Ltd by FCTA authorities, while clearly confirming the legal authority of Area Councils to handle sanitation and health inspection matters.

Presided over by Hon. Justice Y. Halilu, the court delivered this order on May 21, 2026 in respect of the ex-parte Motion No. M/7935/2026 filed by H-Medix Pharmacy Ltd on March 13, 2026. This decisive judgment effectively puts an end to the regulatory harassment and overlapping enforcement actions that H-Medix and many other legitimate businesses in Abuja have endured.

By granting the orders of Certiorari and Prohibition, Hon. Justice Alilu has stopped the criminal proceedings, charges and orders initiated by the FCTA Health and Human Services Department against H-Medix at the various Magistrate Courts, pending the determination of the Motion on Notice for Judicial Review. It has also prevented any further action against the Applicant based on the Public Health Service Act 1958, National Environmental Health Practice Regulations 2024, National Policy on Food Safety, and the National Guidelines for Food Handlers Medical Test 2024.

H-Medix Pharmacy Ltd, a leading healthcare provider known for its commitment to quality service in Abuja, had strongly argued that the FCTA lacked statutory competence to enforce the extant laws cited above. The company highlighted the absence of proper jurisdictional facts, the fact that policies cannot substitute for enforceable laws, the lack of a statutory fee schedule and violation of constitutional principles.

The court’s ruling in favour of these grounds sends a strong message against arbitrary and duplicative demands that have burdened businesses with multiple taxation for the same services. This outcome aligns with the concerns raised by Global Integrity Crusade Network, which in April 2026 publicly drew attention of relevant stakeholders to the deepening institutional crisis between the FCTA and Area Councils like AMAC. The group had highlighted cases of businesses being forced to pay duplicate levies — for instance, making payments to AMAC only to face additional and higher demands from FCTA-linked private consultants.

Such practices had led to premature prosecutions and created an environment of uncertainty for operators trying to comply in good faith. With this pro-business ruling, the FCT High Court has reinforced the role of Area Councils in managing local environmental sanitation and health inspections pursuant to Section 7 of the 1999 Constitution and the Fourth Schedule thereto.

‎PDP In A Desperate Attempt To Undermine Governor Alia's Laudable Strides

‎PDP In A Desperate Attempt To Undermine Governor Alia's Laudable Strides

‎The Factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has issued a statement, wherein, they have questioned the fiscal discipline of the Governor Alia led administration.
‎Funnily, one needs not read the statement twice to decipher that it is a recycled political script designed to distract the good people of the state from the immeasurable progress recorded by Governor Hyacinth Alia within three years of office.
‎The Mohammed Abdulrahman wing of the party in the state has claimed that "despite reportedly receiving over N1.2 trillion within the last three years," there is no meaningful development in State.
‎Sadly, the group's only intent about the N1.2 Trillion claim and financial transparency is to misrepresent facts and figures. This is because budgets all over are run on cash flows, loans, grants and aid.
‎Perhaps, since their recent past was a hub for the mumble-jumble system, the divided umbrella party still mistakes grants and aid as cash flows, which has never been the case.
‎For instance, the Benue State Budget performances over three years reflects 61.6%(2023); 64.8%(2024) and 81%(2025). Taking an average of over three years, we have a performance of 69.1% from 2023 to 2025.
‎And it is important to stress that over the three years of the Alia administration, the Benue State Budget inclusive of FAAC, IGR,  grants, Aid and loans, (termed Discretionary and Non-Discretionary funds) were Approved at N179.7b(2023), N373.1b(2024) and N550.1b(2025), which aggregated to 1.1trillion.
‎Non-Discretionary funds are grants and aid, which come in the form of kind or health commodities, interventions by donors, etc that are not really cash backed, or cash budget.  Most at times, the funds come in terms of provision of counterpart funding to enable draw down of such items or commodities, which the State has no absolute control over.
‎It is also worthy to note that Approved Budgets do not amount to the actual amount gotten in a year, and the average  budget performance is calculated ( whether cash flow or non-discretionary).
‎Therefore, the actual amount realized as State inflows in terms of  Discretionary and Non- Discretionary funds that the State is in receipt of is 69.1% of N1.1trillion, which if calculated comes to 762.8b. (Note, this is inclusive of grants, which comes in items or commodities)  over the three year period). This is an indication that the State could not realize 30.9% of her projections.
‎Interestingly, the loans left by the same PDP government under Ortom, which amounts to 359.6b are still being serviced on a regular basis, with some deductions carried out from the source. (Some in the form of judgment debts or garnishees).
‎This is why Governor Alia always emphasize that he is pinching the pennies. Because with N762b over three years, if you subtract Non-Discretionary funds of about N280 billion in three years, one is left with about N562b cash backed or cash budget or Discretionary funds for three years, to offset a loan profile of N359.6billion; pay salaries, run overheads, and fight insecurity (which is really really expensive).
‎And if not for mischief from the frayed umbrella party, this information is within the public domain on the State's website. But unfortunately, the party prefers to fabricate information and send them out as facts to the unsuspecting public.
‎On the issue of Security and IDPs in the state, the claim by the PDP that "Insecurity has worsened alarmingly," ignores context and data. The results may not be as wholesome as expected, but there is an improvement.  The Alia administration inherited a state where 17 Local Governments areas were under consistent attacks by terrorists. But the government's coordinated operations with federal security agencies has reopened key roads, enabled farming activities to resume in multiple LGAs, and facilitated the gradual return of some displaced persons.
‎Also, the establishment of new IDPs support centers is a humanitarian response to resettle people previously abandoned, not evidence of rising displacement. Unlike the past, when IDPs were weaponized for politics, this government is investing in security infrastructure, patrol vehicles, and community policing to address the root causes.
‎Also, on the allegations that "governance at the grassroots has virtually collapsed, while citizens continue to suffer from poor infrastructure and economic hardship," the party must be reminded that within three years of the Alia led government, the Governor has rehabilitated over 300km of rural roads in addition to over 225km of intra-city roads. Governor Alia has also rehabilitated and erected new structures at the Fr. Adasu University Teaching Hospital, upgraded over 50 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, reconstructed and built over 400 structures in primary schools across the state, constructed two interchanges (underpass) in Gboko and Makurdi, restored water works at Otobi amongst other very many other. All these projects are visible and not fake as was the case when the PDP was in power.
‎On Loans and Debts, we were all here when borrowings were a regular occurrence during the PDP years. The party left Benue with over N187 billion in verified debts (exclusive of contractual liabilities, judgement debts and other questionable liabilities). What were the huge borrowings during the time for?
‎But unlike the opaque loans of 2015–2023 that funded little to no projects, Governor Alia has always stated that any loan taken will be project-specific, and will be used for projects such rural roads and agricultural mechanization schemes. Therefore, any facility accessed by the Alia administration has been tied to specific infrastructure, with approvals from the Benue State House of Assembly and disclosure to the DMO. The audited reports have been consistently published for the public.

‎Again, there is no hidden fact that the state's monthly allocation like other States has improved under the President Tinubu led government, from an average of N8 Billion monthly in 2023 to an average of N15B currently. This information is also available from the FAAC Secretariat and the Federal Ministry of Finance.
‎On the amount paid as salaries, this same PDP administration had shortly before they left office in 2023, circulated a salary wage bill of N7 billion. A few months into his administration, Governor Alia had addressed the press where he said almost N2b monthly savings were made after a payroll audit.
‎Today, there is a full implementation of a new minimum wage of N75,000, full implementation of 40% salary increase for University lecturers, establishment of a new university in Ihugh and implementation of new salaries for various categories of workers.
‎Again, there is no hidden fact that the  internally generated revenue of the state has steadily improved from about N800m monthly in 2023 to about N3 Billion. These numbers are also available in government published records.
‎We therefore, urge the divided party to put its house in order, concentrate more on redeeming its bad image before the Benue people, rather than attempting to undermine Governor Alia's laudable strides in the state.

How Mato Contributed To My Campaign For Gov. Alia

How Mato Contributed To My Campaign For Gov. Alia

...Told me to join Fr. Alia TV Network as well and campaign for Gov. Alia

...She never supported Gemade against Alia

By Terfa Naswem

Pendatyo-U-Tiv, Rt. Hon. Chief Mrs Dorathy Mato played momentous roles for the election of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia in 2023 in various aspects of Alia's campaign.

In October 2017, Chief Mato contacted me for my media services to be covering her political and other activities. After covering her activities for 5 years, when Alia declared his intention in 2022 to contest the Benue State gubernatorial election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), she told me to join Alia's campaign media team and contribute my media expertise to the campaign.

With my professional training in Television Journalism at NTA Television College, Jos, Plateau State and in Mass Communication at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria Kaduna State including others, she believed my expertise would make significant a difference.

She called Comrade James Asortar and told him to include me on the campaign media team of the governor and include me in  Fr. Alia TV Network team as well.

She paid for all the two customised Fr. Alia TV Network shirts to be produced for me with my name crested on the back for identification purposes, got the APC campaign shirt for Alia/Ode 2023 for me and also contributed in providing money for data and other logistics whenever I run out of cash for data or other logistics.

Chief Mato encouraged me to keep campaigning for Alia, stating that he is my uncle from Mbangur, Mbadede, Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, so I should consider campaigning for him as a sacrifice for an uncle for better things to come tomorrow even if no monetary benefits were obtained from the campaign.

For those who have undermined Chief Mato's contributions to Gov. Alia's election, I state clearly that she made enormous sacrifices for Alia's election with her money, time and other resources. Gov. Alia and most of his team were not even aware of the extent Mato went in campaigning for Gov. Alia outside the campaign schedule of Alia's campaign team. I was always with her to cover such campaigns.

Some divisive and conflict merchants who were using Mato's name for their political gains missed the mark about the issue of supporting Gemade over Alia.

Mato was considered the leader of APC in Jechira because all the political heavyweights in APC from Jechira left the party and she was the only highest ranking member left in APC as former Supervisory Councillor for revenue generation in Vandeikya Local Government Council, former Deputy Chairman of Vandeikya, former SA to Gov. Suswam on Women Affairs, former member representing Kyan State Constituency at Benue State House of Assembly, former member, House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency in Benue State.  In 2019, Chief Gemade was in Social Democratic Party (SDP), Rt. Hon. Iorwase Hembe in All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sen. Joseph Akaagerger was in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  It was only Hon. Mato that was the sole financier of APC in Jechira.

Alh. Abubakar Aseer Ihongo was the Vandeikya APC Chairman. It was Mato's financial support to Aseer that was running the activities of APC in Jechira. She would call for stakeholders meeting and use her money to host such meetings including others.

When Gemade rejoined APC in August 2020, Gov. Alia had not even officially told anyone he had the intension to contest for governor, not to talk of a political platform. Although "Divine Mandate" (also known as Divine Mandate for Alia or Divine Mandate Worldwide) was officially formed in 2019 by the convener Sir James Iorpuu, PhD to conceptualise and promote the governorship ambition of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, no political party was indicated untill  2022 when he chose APC.

When Gemade declared his gubernatorial intention in APC, Alia wasn't even a member of the party yet. Mato being the leader of APC in Jechira as of that time, had to follow him to his political activities including other aspirants in APC who invited her.

When Alia officially declared his intention to contest the Benue State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC) on 11 April 2022 at the state APC secretariat in Makurdi, Chief Mato immediately stopped following Gemade to political activities and joined Alia who is from Vandeikya, Mbadede, Mbangur with her.

Chief Gemade was angry with Hon. Mato for preferring Alia over him. Those close to Gemade can ask him. At no point did Mato support Gemade against Alia as it was rumoured.

Rt. Hon. Chief (Mrs) Dorathy Mato deserves to be respected for her sacrifices, commitment and dedication to Gov. Alia's election in 2023.

Olorunda LCDA Empowers Women With Deep Freezers, Generators, Cash Support at 2026 Symposium

Hundreds of women across Olorunda Local Council Development Area on Tuesday benefited from various empowerment items and cash support as the council hosted its 2026 Women Symposium and Empowerment Programme in Badagry, Lagos State.

The event, held at the Golden Rock Event Centre beside GBAS Shopping Complex, Awkuzu Bus Stop, Ilado, was organised by the administration of the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, as part of efforts to promote women empowerment, healthcare awareness and community development.

The symposium, themed Healthy Women Healthy Families Thriving Communities, attracted women groups, community leaders, government officials and other stakeholders from within and outside the council area.

Speaking at the programme, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon said his administration remains committed to investing in women through empowerment initiatives, healthcare support and skills development programmes aimed at improving family welfare and sustainable community growth.
